Organized Collections

Vannevar Bush Papers

This small collection of Vannevar Bush’s papers covers Bush’s work with the National Research Council in the mid- to late-1930s. The work of the Committee on the Relation of the Patent System to the Stimulation of New Industries, of which Bush was a member, is documented in substantial depth in fifteen folders, which make up the bulk of the collection. Bush’s work as Chairman of the Research Council’s Division of Engineering and Industrial Research is also documented here, in addition to his work with the Committee on Scientific Aids to Learning. Additional folders document the Research Council interdivisional relations, as well as a prospective study for the Federal government’s Rural Electrification Administration.
