In the Light of Evolution IV: The Human Condition
Organized by John C. Avise and Francisco J. Ayala This meeting was held December 10-12, 2009 at the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA.
Meeting Overview: The year of Darwinian celebration will close with a Sackler Colloquium devoted expressly to human evolution. Darwin addressed the topic at length in The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex (1871). Much has been learned since then, not least from the evidence of paleontology, comparative vertebrate biology, and comparative genomics. This Sackler Colloquium will bring together leading biologists with special expertise about human evolution, both biological and cultural.
