U.S. Kavli Frontiers of Science
Multimedia presentation files above (noted by ) include the audio presentations synchronized with the presenter's symposium slides.
The National Academy of Sciences has conducted nineteen symposia on the Frontiers of Science, with some 100 of the best and brightest of young American scientists attending each year to hear, discuss, and debate talks across a wide range of the natural sciences. Thus, many of the country's ablest scientists--those now rising to positions of leadership in their institutions and their professions--have gone through a "seminar" on the value and potential of interdisciplinary research. In so doing, they have, by their own account, gained not only those wider perspectives but also, in many instances, new insights and techniques to be applied to their own fields.
Attendees are selected from a pool of young researchers (under 45) who have made significant contributions to science, including recipients of Sloan, Packard, and MacArthur fellowships, winners of the Waterman award, Beckman Young Investigators, and Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).
