Research Interests

The combination of functional and cell/molecular biological approaches used by the Graybiel laboratory to study the basal ganglia is of general significance for understanding how activity states of the forebrain are controlled and modulated during motor activity, learning, and cognition. This work is of high clinical relevance for movement disorders and also for neuropsychiatric disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, Tourette's syndrome, and schizophrenia.
