A graduate of MIT with a BS and MS in aeronautical engineering and a PhD in Meteorology. Appointments at MIT (mathematics), University of Chicago (Geophysical Sciences) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, now retired.Interests in literature, music (clarinet) and speaks Italian.

Research Interests

Currently working on theories of baroclinic instability and the role of chaos in determining spatial structure, inertial upwelling and, in general, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics.
