Research Statement

After a doctorate in isotope geochemistry at the Universite de Lausanne (CH) post-doctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota and research scientist at Stanford University. Professor at Leibniz Universitt Hannover. Current: Professor in Earth Sciences Paleoclimate and Paleo-environmental Dynamics at Goethe University Frankfurt and Co-director of the Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre. My approach to Earth Sciences is to quantify atmosphere-biosphere-lithosphere interactions by studying terrestrial paleoclimate and paleoelevation records. I have a special interest in reconstructing the links and feedbacks among Earth surface processes, evolving ecosystems, and the geodynamic processes of our planet. General research interests include geochemical approaches to reconstructing the interaction of tectonics and surface processes, the dynamics of mountain belts and their impact on atmospheric circulation, and climate-vegetation feedbacks in Earth history.
