Research Interests
Theoretical Biophysics and Quantitative Biology
Research Statement
In the course of my training as a theoretical physicist my research interests have gradually shifted from purely theoretical issues in soft matter and biological physics to theoretical modeling in quantitative and systems biology. Main themes of my research are transport phenomena in biological systems, mechanical properties of cells and modeling of bacterial metabolism, development and motility. The investigation of the associated phenomena involves formal as well as more applied issues and requires analytical, numerical, and sometimes even experimental efforts.
