Research Statement

Energy plays a fundamental role in driving dynamics and structure in a large class of models from materials science and fluid mechanics. In my research, I apply tools of applied analysis to investigate the structure of stationary states as well as the dynamics of such systems. For this, I use tools from the Calculus of variations and from the theory of partial differential equations. I have been working on models from fluid dynamics, Ferromagnetism, Elasticity and Diblock-Copolymers. I have finished my Ph.D. under the supervision of Felix Otto in 2007. From 2007-2010, I worked as Courant Instructor at New York University. Since 2010, I work as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bonn.
