Research Statement

Jens Weber holds a diploma degree in Physical Chemistry of Polymers from the University of Technology Dresden (July 2005). He finished his PhD (Colloid and Polymer Science) under the supervision of Prof Dr Markus Antonietti and Prof Dr Arne Thomas at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPIKGF) Potsdam in December 2007. He stayed at MPIKGF for 6 months as a postdoctoral researcher, before moving on for a postdoctoral stay with Prof Dr Lennart Bergstr_m at the Arrhenius Laboratory, Stockholm University, Sweden (September 2008-August 2009, DFG Research Fellowship). Since September 2009 he is head of the Research Unit on Porous Polymers at the MPIKGF, Potsdam, Germany. He accepted an offer (Professor of Physical Chemistry) of the University of Applied Science Zittau/G_rlitz, Germany, starting from March 2014. His present research is focused on nanoporous materials, mainly polymers and carbonaceous materials, including renewable synthetic pathways. Main interest is spent on the characterization of the materials porosity using gas adsorption/desorption and in-situ scattering experiments.
