Research Statement
Dr. Hart studies semiconducting materials, particularly photocatalysts (i.e. materials that use energy from light to catalyse chemical reactions). Her work has applications in photocatalytic generation of hydrogen from water using sunlight, degradation of pollutants and destruction of cancer cells. She uses both computational and experimental methods to understand relationships between composition and properties. Developing areas of her research are photocatalytic materials for water splitting inspired by nature and nanostructured photocatalytic materials for cancer treatment.
