Research Statement

Rainer Haag, born in 1968, studied Chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt and did his PhD thesis at the University of Gottingen (19921995). He worked as a Postdoc in 1996-1997 with Prof. S. V. Ley, University of Cambridge (England) and in 1997-1999 with Prof. G. M. Whitesides, Harvard University (USA). From 1999 until 2002 he completed his habilitation on "Dendritic Polymers as High-loading Supports for Organic Synthesis and Drug-Delivery" at the University of Freiburg (Germany). He is a co-founder of Hyperpolymers, a company specialized on dendritic polymers. In May 2005 he became an associate professor in Organic Polymer Chemistry at the University of Dortmund (Germany). Since December 2004 he has been full professor of organic and macromolecular chemistry at the Free University of Berlin (Germany). His research interests are dendritic polymers as highly functional polymeric supports for organic synthesis and catalysis, macromolecular nanotransporters for DNA- and drug-delivery as well as protein resistant surfaces.
