Research Statement
My research falls broadly into the area of human dimensions of global change. I am interested in issues of vulnerability to climate change impacts, especially on coastal areas, and possible response strategies, the barriers to and limits of adaptation, the role of science in supporting policy and management and improved ways of communicating climate change to non-scientific audiences. I'm currently initiating a new research project on societal resilience in the face of rapid climate change, extremes, and increasingly frequent disturbances.
