Research Interests

My interests include the preparation and characterization of membrane vesicles and their use as model systems to study membrane-related phenomena; bioenergetics (development and use of techniques to quantitate electrochemical ion gradients); solubilization, purification, and reconstitution of membrane proteins; molecular mechanisms of active transport; oligonucleotide-directed, site-specific mutagenesis; use of monoclonal and site-directed polyclonal antibodies to study topology of membrane proteins; application of biophysical techniques to the study of structure and function of membrane proteins; and development of analytical techniques for hydrophobic proteins and peptides.
