Biosketch

Casey Weaver is an immunologist who studies the development and function of CD4 T cells. He is best known for his contributions in defining the Th17 subset and its function in host defense and immune-mediated disease of the intestines. Weaver was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, where he attended the University of Florida for degrees in Biochemistry (BS) and Medicine (MD). He received post-doctoral training in immunology as a resident in pathology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis before joining the faculty of the Department of Pathology the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he is currently the Wyatt and Susan Haskell Chair of Medical Excellence.

Research Interests

Casey Weaver's laboratory is interested in how CD4 T cells work and how they do their work. The Weaver lab is particularly interested in how CD4 T cells develop into different subsets and how these subsets control different types of innate and adaptive immune responses in the gut.
