Plant ecological and evolutionary genomics and evolutionary ecology: mechanisms of local adaptation and response to climate variation and environmental change; the adaptive evolution of developmental plasticity, especially photomorphogenic shade avoidance and responses to seasonal cues; the ecology and evolution of maternal effects; the genetic basis and adaptive evolution of developmental, physiological and life-history traits; using genetically modified plants to test ecological and evolutionary hypotheses; conservation biology of New England plants.
