Research Interests

My deepest devotion is to mathematics. I have published in number theory, complexity theory and symbolic logic, but my interest in the topic is universal. I have on occasion applied mathematical ideas to practical problems such as cryptography. I have also been interested in taking a mathematical approach to the physical and biological sciences, as for example when investigating the potential of DNA as a computational substrate. It is my belief that after generations of specialization in the sciences, it is once again possible to be a generalist; a scientist who understands mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology and who can traffic in the best concepts of all of these fields.
