Scott Shenker spent his academic youth studying theoretical physics at Brown (ScB), Chicago (PhD), and Cornell (Postdoc). However, after joining Xerox PARC he soon gave up chaos theory for computer science. After leaving PARC he cofounded a nonprofit Internet research group in Berkeley, and later joined the faculty at UC Berkeley. He currently splits his time between the UC Berkeley Computer Science Division and the International Computer Science Institute.
Research Interests
Over the years, Scott Shenker's research has wandered across a wide range of fields, including networking, distributed systems, performance modeling, and game theory. His current research projects include software-defined networking, network function virtualization, network algorithms and protocols, serverless programming models, and Internet architecture.
