Biosketch
H. Vincent Poor is the Michael Henry Strater University Professor at Princeton University, where is a member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and an affiliate of Princeton’s centers and programs in applied mathematics, energy & the environment, and statistics & machine learning. From 2006 to 2016, he served as the dean of Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. Prior to joining the Princeton faculty in 1990, he was on the faculty of the University of Illinois, and he has held visiting appointments at a number of other universities, including most recently at Berkeley and Cambridge. In addition to the NAS, Dr. Poor is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, and a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society, and other national and international academies. Recent recognition of his work includes the 2017 IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal, the 2019 ASEE Benjamin Garver Lamme Award, and honorary doctorates and professorships from a number of universities in Asia, Europe and North America.
Research Interests
Dr. Poor's research interests include information theory, machine learning and network science, and their applications in wireless networks, energy systems and related fields.
