Research Interests

My research interests in economics have concentrated on public economics, macroeconomics, financial economics, and labor economics. My interests have centered on empirical work that brings data to bear on traditional economic theories. Particular foci have included the impact of capital taxation on savings and investment, the behavioral approaches to finance, nonmarket clearing approaches to macroeconomics, and challenges to competitive theories of how labor markets operate. I have maintained continuing interest in approaches to labor and financial markets that give substantial weight to inefficiencies and imperfections. My interests have shifted over time toward economic questions that bear on economic policy. Currently, as my administrative obligations permit, I am working on issues related to global economic integration, specifically episodes of financial crisis.
