Research Interests

I study methods for modeling macroeconomic time series and of using such models for decision-making and policy. Recent work has included: theoretical analysis of central bank independence and inflation-targeting policy from the perspective of the fiscal theory of the price level; analysis of statistical evidence for shifts in monetary policy behavior over time in the US; integrating the notion of Shannon capacity into the theory of dynamically optimizing economic agents; and critical assessment of statistical models used in central banks.
