Research Interests

My work concerns the interfacial dynamics and instabilities of interfaces formed by adjacent physical phases with application to fluid mechanics and materials science. In the former case some recent investigations concern the small-scale flows and rupture of films in (liquid-gas) foams in which capillarity, thermo-capillary, and van der Waals forces conspire to determine the integrity of the foam as a whole. In the latter case I have been investigating the evolution of quantum dots involving surface diffusion, capillarity, and strong anisotropic crystalline properties, and secondly the growth of nano-wires by catalytic crystal growth. In all cases, I can compose and analyze models that help lead experimental explorations.
