Biosketch
Sedimentary and tectonic field geologist specializing in Proterozoic Earth history. Field experience primarily in NW Canada and SW Africa. Former (Senior) Research Scientist with Geological Survey of Canada (1969-92), Professor of Geology at University of Victoria (1992-94) and Harvard University (1994-2008). Now Adjunct Prof. (U. Victoria) and Emeritus Prof. (Harvard).
Research Interests
Snowball Earth climate dynamics and impacts on geochemical cycles and biological evolution, particularly as expressed in the genomes of living taxa. Southwest Gondwana Neoproterozoic tectonics.
