Research Statement
My area of expertise is chemistry, specifically the synthesis of inorganic (metal-containing) molecules with unusual electronic structures. My goal in creating these new molecules is to enable bond-forming and bond-breaking reactions of substrates which have not yet been possible. This has application in the generation of fuels or chemicals from renewable energy. Conversion of CO2, electrons and protons (water) into methanol for use as fuel is one example of a complex reaction we study.
