Research Statement

Born in 1967 in Belgium, I studied Biology and finished my PhD at the University of Antwerp in 1994. I came to the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen in 1999 as Research Group Leader and became Director of the Department of Behavioral Ecology and Evolutionary Genetics in 2003. In 2004, I was appointed Honorary Professor in Behavioral Ecology at the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich. My general research interests are the evolution of avian mating behavior and the causes and consequences of promiscuity.
