Research Statement

Gary Shiu is an Associate Professor of Physics and the founding member of the string theory group at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His research encompasses many aspects of string theory, particle physics, and cosmology. Much of his work focuses on how string theory might make contact with nature, including the construction of realistic string theory models of particle physics and cosmology, and the investigation of the tantalizing possibility of observing string signatures from cosmological measurements. He has received an NSF CAREER Award, a Research Innovation Award, and a Cottrell Scholar Award.
