Research Interests

Mars surface alteration processes, early life

Research Statement

My research interests are directed toward characterizing the surface of Mars. This includes analysis of visible/near-infrared (VNIR) images of Mars collected by the hyperspectral CRISM spectrometer on MRO and the multi-channel Pancam imager on the MERs. Field analyses of potential Mars analog sites and lab analyses of minerals, rocks and soils provide ground truth for the Martian datasets. Additional lab experiments are performed in order to determine the spectral properties of mineral mixtures or altered or cemented materials.
