Research Statement
Randal Burns builds the high-performance, scalable data systems that allow scientists to make discoveries through the exploration, mining, and statistical analysis of big data. His group develops and operates the software and infrastructure that underlies the Open Connectome Project and the Johns Hopkins Turbulence Databases. He is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and a founding member of the Institute for Data-Intensive Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
