Research Statement

My research is focused on various applications of synchrotron radiation-based spectroscopic techniques and a broad range of computational methodologies in understanding the relationship between electronic/geometric structures and chemical reactivity. The current research activities include molecular queries into structure/function relationships of challenging metalloenzymes (hydrogenase, nitrogenase, carbonmonoxide dehydrogenase, SAM radical enzymes), heterogeneous catalysis by Fe-S minerals and particles (pyrite), homogeneous catalysis involving Pd complexes (Pd-halide-phosphines), and the design of thermochromic materials (Ni-halide-phosphines) based on temperature-dependent ligand-switch chemistry.
