Research Statement
I received my PhD in marine biology from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and did my postdoctoral training at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. My research uses molecular tools to study marine microbial physiology and biogeochemistry. In addition to my research efforts, I have developed stakeholder monitoring programs to track toxic species and ocean literacy activities for the virtual world Whyville, giving more than 1.5 million children exposure to the process of scientific discovery.
