Research Statement
My research focuses on the behavioral ecology and bioacoustics of marine mammals. My research interests include studying the behavioral use of sound for communication, hearing abilities, the impacts of noise on both sound production and reception, and the evolution of noise compensation mechanisms. My current studies include projects with North Atlantic and southern right whales and humpback whales, studying behavioral aspects of sound production, the perceptual abilities of whales and the impact of noise on their acoustic communication.
