Research Interests
Andrei Okounkov works in representation theory, algebraic geometry, probability theory, and mathematical physics. His work emphasizes connections. For example, he used probabilistic analysis of random partitions and random surfaces to solve problems in gauge theory and algebraic geometry, and vice versa. His current research applies tools from representation theory and mathematical physics to enumerative geometry of holomorphic curves and holomorphic vector bundles.
