Research Interests

My work deals with socio-cultural, organizational and financial aspects of health care and their effects on access to services and health care outcomes. I also study how institutional arrangements, forms of payment, and other incentives affect health system performance, professional and patient responses and institutional trust. Central to my concerns are how individuals and organizations approach challenges and how they adapt to changing conditions. My research is cross-disciplinary and generally is of interest to the fields of medical sociology, social epidemiology and health services research. It also addresses issues of health risk, preventive health efforts, and policy and program implementation.
