Research Interests
My research has centered on the measurement, analysis, and mathematical modeling of electrochemical signaling in the nervous system. To that end I have contributed to the development and application of optical and magnetic resonance imaging methodologies that provide information about neural dynamics in vivo. More recently, I have characterized the cellular and network mechanisms of persistent neural activity, a widely observed form of neural dynamics associated with short-term retention of information in memory.
