Research Interests

My background is in theoretical computer science, with special interests in the areas of algorithms, distributed computing, parallel algorithms and architectures, combinatorial optimization, discrete mathematics, graph theory, probabilistic methods, and cryptographic protocols. More recently, I have become interested in Internet protocols, cybersecurity, behavioral targeting, data mining, client-based technologies for computing and communication, and improved methods for content delivery, load balancing and application acceleration across wide area networks. My interest in the latter subjects combines both theoretical and commercial concerns and formed the basis for the founding of Akamai in 1998.
