Research Interests

In most organisms there is the opportunity for chromosomes from two different individuals to break and swap parts with each other. The various mechanisms by which this occurs are especially accessible to study in bacteriophage and in yeast, our two pet creatures. Since this genetic recombination occurs within the context of specific life cycles, our work invariably drags us into other aspects of the biology of those creatures as well.
