Margaret S. Livingstone

Biosketch

Margaret Livingstone is a visual neuroscientist, known for her work on parallel processing in early visual areas and the development and specialization of higher visual areas. She was born in Danville, Virginia, did her undergraduate work at MIT and her PhD at Harvard. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University, then at Harvard. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the National Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests

Margaret Livingstone's laboratory works on the development and plasticity of inferotemporal cortex in non-human primates. The lab uses functional MRI and electrophysiology to study the effects of experience on the organization of specialized domains in inferotemporal cortex, particularly face-selective domains.
