Research Interests
Dr. Goldman’s research lies at the intersection of social epidemiology and demography. Much of her work has examined the linkages between the social environment and health in both low- and high-income settings, with a particular focus on identifying the physiological pathways through which social and economic factors affect health and survival. In recent years, she has examined racial and ethnic disparities in health in the US examining the relationship between migration and health patterns among Latinos, the effects of COVID-19 on racial and ethnic inequalities in survival, and the impact of occupational status on disparities in physical and cognitive functioning. She is currently involved in a demographic, clinical, and molecular data collection effort to assess the social determinants of cardiovascular health among disadvantaged young adults in the US.
