Paul Corkum is best known for introducing many of the concepts describing how intense light pulses interact with atoms or molecules. He was the first to show how to make and measure attosecond pulse and how to use these new methods to image atomic scale matter. In 2001, together with co-workers in Vienna, he produced the world?s first attosecond optical pulses. In 2004 his group captured an image of the highest occupied orbital of a Nitrogen molecule.
