Richard S. Hamilton

Hamilton is the creator and master of "designer" evolution equations, which flow through geometric structures to arrive at certain goals. Of particular significance is his "Ricci Flow." As Hamilton has amply demonstrated, the analysis of these equations can shed light on a variety of issues, including the Poincare conjecture.
