Research Interests
My areas of interest are in understanding the transcriptional basis of mammalian physiology through an analysis of the genetics of steroid receptors and related genes that comprise the nuclear receptor superfamily. We are interested in the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional suppression and activation and the identification of protein co-factors that are involved in transcriptional switching. We are interested in identifying new classes of hormonal lipids that may serve as ligands for orphan nuclear receptors which in turn provide new insights into endocrine physiology and metabolic regulation. We are especially interested in the roles of nuclear receptors in cancer, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and the treatment of these diseases with novel nuclear receptor modulators.
