Biosketch
Scott E Page, PhD is John Seely Brown Distinguished University Professor of Complexity, Social Science, and Management
Williamson Family Professor of Business Administration, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He is also an external faculty member of the Santa Fe Institute. Scott earned a BA in Mathematics from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, a Masters in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an MS and PhD from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford, and is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His book, The Difference, was re-released as a Princeton University Press Classic in 2025.
Research Interests
Dr Page’s research focuses on the function of diversity in complex social systems, the potential for and realization of collective intelligence in groups and teams, the design of institutions for meeting the challenges of a complex world, and the uses of models in social science. His work combines mathematical and computational methods to explore topics ranging from collective problem solving and group decision making to the co-evolution of culture and institutions.
