This year’s Annual Meeting was held from Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27. Although in-person attendance was limited to NAS members, several sessions and ceremonies were livestreamed and recordings are available on our YouTube channel. Friday, April 25

Presentation Ceremony — Members and international members elected in 2024 were introduced to their colleagues in the Academy and sign the “Registry of Membership.”

Saturday, April 26

President’s Address — Marcia McNutt delivered her annual address to NAS members and guests.

Symposium — This session explained why the U.S. needs to expand the capacity of its high voltage transmission system. Speakers will present and discuss a number of technical, regulatory and other strategies.

Research Briefings — Six members elected in 2024, representing each of the Academy’s discipline-based Classes, talked about their research and answered questions from the audience.

Sunday, April 27

Awards Ceremony — Recipients of the 2025 NAS Awards were honored for their outstanding contributions to science.
