On June 2, the NAS joined the science academies of the other G7 nations in issuing the “Ottawa Declaration,” emphasizing the importance of academic freedom, institutional autonomy, the integrity of research, research security, and the responsible conduct of research in support of the public good.
Last month, the seven science academies issued joint statements in advance of the G7 Summit in Canada from June 15-17, which are intended to inform discussions at the summit on advanced technologies and data security and on climate action and health resilience.
