President Biden announced the latest recipients of the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation—our nation’s highest honors for exemplary achievement and leadership in science and technology.

Richard Alley, Larry Bartels, Bonnie Bassler, Angela Belcher, Helen Blau, Emery Neal Brown, Ingrid Daubechies, Cynthia Dwork, R. Lawrence Edwards, Wendy Freedman, and G. David Tilman have been honored with the National Medal of Science. Established by Congress in 1959, the National Medal of Science recognizes outstanding contributions to science in service to the United States.

Jennifer Doudna, Paula Hammond, and Feng Zhang have received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. First awarded in 1985, the National Medal of Technology and Innovation recognizes American innovators whose vision, intellect, creativity, and determination have strengthened America’s economy and improved our quality of life.
