Join the Embassy of Sweden and the National Academy of Sciences for the 2024 Nobel Prize Symposium. The event is a unique opportunity to hear from four of this year’s U.S.-based Nobel Prize Laureates and learn from the brightest minds in science.

How does the Laureates’ research impact our society? What inspired their scientific journeys and research careers? What challenges did they face along the way? With these, and many more questions, we hope to inspire a conversation around global challenges, innovation, international collaboration, and the future of scientific research.

• Marcia McNutt, president, U.S. National Academy of Sciences

The following laureates will present their work, discuss the sources of inspiration and challenges they faced in their careers, and participate in a conversation moderated by Maria Brogren, science counselor at the Embassy of Sweden:

• John M. Jumper, who shares one-half of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for protein structure prediction”
• Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun, recipients of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine “for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation”
• Simon Johnson, one of three recipients of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2024 “for studies of how institutions are formed and affect prosperity”
