Public Comment Submitted by National Academy of Sciences
The National Academy of Sciences’ President Neil H. Shubin has submitted a public comment to the Federal Register to express concerns about and request revisions to the June proposal by the Office of Management and Budget to alter rules governing federal grantmaking. The editors of the Academy’s leading academic journals PNAS and PNAS Nexus have also submitted a comment related to the proposed rules as they affect academic publishing. The public comments express a shared concern that the OMB proposal would set back the pursuit of the types of discovery that have propelled the United States forward as a global leader in science, engineering, and medicine for many decades.
