New NAS President Shares His Vision for the Academy

Renowned evolutionary biologist Neil H. Shubin took office on July 1 as the president of the National Academy of Sciences. In his first video message as president, he shares his vision for the Academy and its role in advancing science for the benefit of the nation.

“I’d like to bring the excitement of discovery and the wonder of science to the work we do here at the National Academy of Sciences.”

Shubin also discusses the unique partnership among the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Medicine, and how the three Academies work together to bring the best available science, engineering, and medical expertise to address the nation’s most pressing challenges.
